High-quality silicone is expensive. As a result, silicone molds are also expensive. Some molds allow you to make candles in different sizes using a single mold. All you need is a household kitchen scale and a flat support (e.g. a wooden board).
We demonstrate this with two examples.
Example 1:
Place the board on the scale and set the silicone mold with the wick inserted on top of the board.
Now you know how much wax is needed for a full-size candle made with this silicone mold. If, for example, you want the candle to be only half as tall, simply pour half the amount of wax into the mold.
The board allows you to lift the mold off the scale without squeezing or deforming the silicone mold.
Here you can see the result. All four candles were made using just one mold. This method also works with round candles. However, it is not suitable for candles with a decorative motif, as the motif would no longer be fully visible on the smaller candle.
Example 2:
The procedure is the same for this example (Christmas tree). However, candles of different heights will also have different diameters (see images G and K). Therefore, it is important to select the correct wick size for each candle.
